Here is a Spectacular Original Civil War Painted Regimental Drum From the Philadelphia. This is one of the most beautiful atifacts we have ever been able to offer on Ebay . It is a gorgeous original Civil War painted regimental snare drum . This one stands out no matter what it is displayed beside. It stands 15 3/4 inches tall and measures 16 5/8 inches across head. The body of the drum has the spectacular painted Union Eagle in the center . In one of the eagle's talons it has the arrows of war and in the other talon is the branch of peace. It has the red white and blue shield in the center of the eagle's chest. The eagle has the ribbon design coming out of her beak. It has been hand painted. "Regt. US Infantry " in great condition white paint. Above the ribbon it has the rays with the stars below . All of this is set on a blue base background that makes the detail stand out even more. The drum head skin have a slight tear that can only be sen upon real close inspection . On the botom head it even has the original snare strings intact . The drum is held together by the original ropes. When you look through the percussion hole on the side you are greeted by the orginal paper maker's label on the inside . It reads "C & F SOISTMANN / Manufacturers of all kinds of /DRUMS ?No. 438 Dillwyn St./PHILADELPHIA , Pa. " The Maker's book shows that Conrad & Frederick Soistmann were listed at this address in 1863 . This drum is a thing of beauty as well as superb craftsmanship. These are getting very hard to find so untouched as in discovered condition . A real investment grade Historical Drum. A great drum that is realy worth closer to $10,000.00 in this fine untouched condition. Hard to find this nice and uncut all original right down to the ropes and label and heads ... A great example for the picky collector.
