"Be it known that I, ROBERT C. DANLY, a resident of the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Snare-Tensioning Devices for Drums..."
Background:
In 1920, a patent was issued to Robert C. Danly for his invention of the Ludwig Pioneer Snare Drum. The Ludwig Pioneer model was manufactured by the Ludwig & Ludwig Drum Company during the golden era, known as the "Jazz Age". The Ludwig Pioneer featured the first cam-operated tensioning device, which allowed the adjusted snare strings to be easily moved into a set or release position.
